ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The entry requirements for our Level 3, 4 and 5 are below. You must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • 18 years of age on day 1 of your course
  • 4 years of secondary school or equivalent work experience
  • English Language Proficiency as outlined below
English Language Proficiency

Passed an NZQA approved internal ACG English test (including NSIA and Campbell Institute) with 5.5 IELTS overall. From 24 October 2015 this is only applicable for students from markets with 80 percent or over visa approval. For Immigration NZ visa approval rates click here.

i. IELTS: Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5
ii. TOEFL Paper-based Test (pBT) where the test was carried out prior to 1 October 2017: Score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE)
iii. TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): Score of 46 (with a writing score of 14)
iv. Cambridge English Qualifications: B2 First or B2 First for schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill
v. OET: Minimum of Grade C or 200 in all sub-tests
vi. NZCEL: Level 4 (General) or (Employment)
vii. Pearson Test of English (Academic): PTE (Academic) score of 42 with no band score lower than 36
viii. LanguageCert: B2 Communicator IESOL (LRWS) with HIGH PASS and no less than Pass in each skill
ix. Trinity ISE: ISE II with no less than merit in any band

Improving your English

If you are serious about a career in the travel industry or particularly as an International Flight Attendant, good English can be very important. If you need to improve your English before you start studying with us, you can study with our English school in Auckland, Campbell Institute, then go onto to complete the travel course, flight attendant course or both!

Full Disclosure

Students must understand that full disclosure of level of English, educational achievement and insurance is vital to ensure that there are no repercussions that may occur due to non-disclosure.

Other requirements

Due to the physical activities involved in the International Flight Attending students should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Swim freestyle (overarm) one length 25 metres, in togs, tread water for 2.5 minutes.
  • Swim with clothing and lifejacket on 50 metres any style with in a 2 minute time frame.
  • Rescue swim (drag a partner) 25 metres and then swap over.

Acceptance on to any of the courses is at the discretion of New Zealand School of Tourism following an interview. Subject to meeting entry requirements, acceptance is based on availability.
