INTRODUCTION

With New Zealand’s tourism industry busy with Kiwis exploring their own backyard, it’s a great time to get training for your career. This fun programme gives you the unique opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills you gain across a broad range of workplaces. The modules cover New Zealand Tourism Destinations, Inbound Tourism, Hotels and Hospitality, Water Transportation and Cruising, Airport and Airline Operations, Tourism Operations and Guiding and Travel Agency Operations. 

You’ll graduate with a great understanding of the different careers in tourism and where you’d like to work in the future. You’ll also come away with valuable transferable skills including comprehensive customer service skills, sustainability awareness, business and marketing skills. What’s more, you’ll understand how to make a good impression on an employer through your CV and a confident interview process.

This New Zealand study tour could take you to Rotorua, Queenstown or other popular destinations. Fun Events

Campus life includes many different exciting themed events. One day you may be traversing the city in an ‘Amazing Race’, or competing in a campus ‘Glee’ competition, or theming the campus for a fundraising event such as SPCA. Along the way you’ll make lasting friendships, gain team experience and develop your personal leadership skills. 

Small Classes

You won't be a number or get lost in a crowd; your academic success is our focus. Small classes of around 22 means tutors know your name and want to ensure your success every step of the way. We have had students start on a Level 2 course and go right through to completing a Level 5 diploma, thanks to the support and encouragement of the tutors. 

Industry Learning

You will enjoy learning what the industry wants you to know. The airline, travel, tourism and hotel industries are all involved in our interactive and up to date programmes, so you can experience the fun of being part of this exciting industry while gaining work ready skills. 

New Zealand Heroes

Be inspired as you study two New Zealand tourism entrepreneurs: John Anderson who started Contiki and Ewan Wilson who started Kiwi Air. 

Mentoring & Coaching

Throughout the course you will have your own personal mentor and coach that meets with you one-on-one every six weeks to discuss your goals, talk employment and ensure you are work ready. 

ENTRY CRITERIA

All Level 4 Certificates
  • Applicants must have either NCEA Level 3, or University Entrance, or completed a Level 3 Certificate in Tourism or Travel or have equivalent knowledge and skills.
International Students
  • All international students must be a minimum of 18 years of age at the start of all courses. (18 years of age on day 1 of your course as per code of practice requirements)
  • 4 years of secondary school or equivalent work experience
